SEMILLA and CASAS Offer Online Classes
A year ago, SEMILLA would not have imagined going almost completely online with its programming. But pushed by necessity through the pandemic, the Seminary now offers online theological education to groups in seven Central American countries and Colombia.
Panamanian Seminary Students
A group of students from Panama participates in the “Church in Mission, Missional Leadership and Transformative Ministry.” Willi Hugo Perez teaches the class in Spanish. Still, these students, happy to be a community of learners, remain online afterward to enthusiastically discuss what they are learning using the native tongue of the Embera Wounan people to which they belong.
Colombian Seminary Students
This group from Colombia is studying “Biblical Education and Study Methods.” The class is also taught by Willi Hugo Pérez, the SEMILLA rector.
Cross-Cultural Education with Eastern Mennonite University
CASAS also served a group of EMU students with a virtual cross-cultural experience for a period of 12 weeks which includes Spanish classes, weekly guest speakers, and the course, Violence, Justice, and Peace in Central America.
Thank You to Our Supporters
Students say SEMILLA is a “seed of hope” for them during this difficult period. Thank you! SEMILLA has been able to respond because of the creative wisdom of its leaders and the support of many of you who gave above and beyond this year.
